Let’s face it, Gmail is great and having Google Apps domains with Gmail Interface makes it even better because you can use your own Domain Name with all the Gmail Facilities. But one thing Google hasn’t quite caught with Microsoft is the Mobile Platform and it is very clear Microsoft is leading one side of the Mobile Arena (I am not going to talk about Symbian Devices here…)
Well… What do I like about Gmail? The answer is Everything! I like every single feature Gmail offers… i.e. The Loading Speed, The User Interface, The Options, The Choices… I could list it all day long… But, even though it is probably the best Email platform available, it is limited by the Windows Mobile Operating System and especially the features offered by Windows Mobile Live…
Google hasn’t done much about it and frankly they have let Microsoft to dominate it… This leads me to think they are too busy working on their own Mobile Device Operating System thus they haven’t bothered challenging Microsoft by Developing Software for Windows Mobile Devices… Windows Mobile has some nifty features but there are couple of them interested me the most… The main two features are Live Contacts and Push Email.
I personally don’t like using Outlook to manage my contacts because I would be tied to one machine and it is better to have everything centralised on to a server so you can access it from anywhere… thus you will have more choices; and if you think about it, it does make sense.
Google does not offer that feature with Gmail and it neither support a straight forward Push Email facility. I think it would be great if Google provides software for Windows Mobile Devices which addresses the above issues…
